The currency in Madagascar is the Malagasy Ariary, however it is advisable to take Euros and change small amounts of money at a time into Ariary, as it can be difficult to change money back. We strongly recommend exchanging money at the BFV/Societe Generale Bank, when in Madagascar. Do be aware that it is illegal to exchange money at the markets. Credit Cards are not widely accepted in Madagascar.
