Best holiday we have ever been on!...
The picture-perfect resort of Adaaran Select Meedhupparu is a 43-acre oval shaped coral island, covered with thick vegetation and surrounded by a ring of white sand. It has a lagoon ideal for watersports and is close to excellent diving areas. It's the perfect location for a holiday in paradise.
You'll feel a warm welcome from the moment you arrive at the magnificent Adaaran Select Meedhupparu. The beach will feature heavily on this holiday and it's so enduringly beautiful, you'll want to spend so much of your time there simply drinking in the view. If you fancy a little more energetic activity than working on that all-important holiday tan, then you'll find a selection of watersports available to keep you busy. For an underwater buzz, why not take a dive below the surface and explore? Just visit the dive school on site and they'll make sure you have the right equipment and some help if you need it.
You'll feel very comfortable and well-looked after here too. Terraced rooms with partial sea view are air conditioned and all are equipped with a fan, minibar, safe, telephone, satellite television and tea/coffee maker. The best part is that the en suite facilities include indoor and outdoor showers. Taking a cool shower in golden sunshine – or even under a canopy of twinkling stars – has got to be one of the enduring pleasures of a holiday in this beach paradise.
Guests can choose from three individual restaurants, each with their own ambience and menu – and different views too of course. It's pretty hard to beat spending a relaxing evening taking time to savour a delicious meal and perhaps a glass of wine or two, with the waves lapping the beach and the warm breeze gently nudging the palm trees nearby. Just bliss.
Other facilities on site include two bars, weekly entertainment, a small shopping arcade and a laundry service. One thing's for sure – you'll want for nothing at the Adaaran Select Meedhupparu.
* At a fee

Maldives Islands Holidays
Numbering over a thousand different islands that resemble pearl drops scattered among the Indian Ocean, the Maldives is one of the planets most dispersed and beautiful countries; a place where you can forget about the outside world and simply relax.
With most of the islands uninhabited, the Maldives deserves its reputation as a place to escape from the world and its many troubles. When you start with a transfer from airport to resort in the form of either a speed boat or seaplane, you know that you’re in for something truly special.
When to go:
The tropical climate of Maldives means the temperatures are quite consistent and incredibly pleasurable, with averages highs in the low-30s all year-round. The warmest time of the year is generally to be found during April, but this also coincides with the beginning of monsoon season, which runs from April to October. Rainfall is particularly likely from June to August.
Top Attractions:
One of the most important festivals found on the islands is that of the 3-day Kuda Eid celebration. Coming as it does at the end of Ramadan, there is no fixed date each year, due to the dependency on moon sightings. But if you are around for it, heading to the capital city of Malé will allow you to enjoy the massive street parade (though even the quieter islands are likely to be enjoying traditional dancing and feasts).
While you’re in Malé, you might also enjoy a tour of the sights, including the Grand Friday Mosque and National Museum.
On the individual islands, the too-many-to-name resorts will each have their own take on the best ways to enjoy this paradise on earth.
Beaches:
We’ll go out on a limb here and say that at least one of your computer backgrounds in the past has been of a Maldives beach. They are everything you want when you picture a dreamlike shoreline: the brightest white sand you could imagine, row upon row of palm trees, and a luminous cyan-blue sea that stretches to infinity.
Also worthy of mention is the stilted water villas which are something of a trademark for the islands, providing unassailable views of the sapphire depths.
Dining:
Depending almost entirely on which resort you end up choosing to spend your time at, the cuisine on offer could range from gourmet meals prepared by experienced, highly-regarded chefs, right the way down to chicken bites and pizza in the communal dining area. One thing of note is that rarely do the resort restaurants and/or eating establishments provide a taste of local cuisine. For a genuine sample of Madivian dishes, a trip to Malé (if you aren’t staying there for your visit anyway) is your best bet.
Entertainment:
The only places permitted to serve alcohol in Maldives is on the resorts themselves, where you’ll find no shortage of opportunity to kick back and enjoy the stunning vistas with beer, wine, cocktail or champagne in hand. Though be warned that prices are absurdly high, so all-inclusive packages provide markedly better value if you intend to do a lot of drinking.
Beyond the bars of the resorts, nightlife and clubs are practically non-existent, barring the odd example of resorts that have their own nightclubs.
Culture:
Almost all Malidivans identify as Muslim and the culture within Malé reflects this, where alcohol, pork, drugs, and even other religions are not permitted. This does not transfer to the countless resorts however, which are given license to effectively operate in a separate bubble.
Again, heading to Malé and strolling around the markets is the best way to get a feel for local islander life. And to immerse yourself into the culture and history of the place, the aforementioned National Museum and Grand Friday Mosque offer the best options.
Adventure and Sports:
If you’re in Maldives and haven’t dipped your head below the sea, you can only say that you’ve seen half of the delights on offer – maybe less so! This multicoloured sunken orchard of coral and exotic wildlife is something that is not repeated in many other places on our vast planet. And the crystal-clear waters will allow snorkellers and divers to see well beyond what you’d find in other parts of the world.
A highlight on the diving front is Hammerhead Point where you can expect visits from hammerhead sharks and manta rays.
Or if you don’t fancy getting yourself wet, taking to the depths in a whale submarine, where you’ll pass by tropical fish and, possibly, a shark or two, is an impressive way to spend the afternoon.
Getting around:
When you’re in the Maldives, you generally only get to see two places: the airport and your resort (or just one, if you’re staying on Malé for the duration). And getting from one to the other will be done either by speedboat or seaplane. But if you’re keen to know the modes of transport that the islands have to offer, it generally comes in the three forms of boats, seaplanes and private yachts, with the most common naturally being boats.

Really good standard of accommodation for the price. The food in the buffet style restaurant was so good we never considered the other dining options. The staff spoke really good English and nothing was too much trouble. The snorkeling off the beach never got boring, every day seeing new species including baby sharks, turtles, eels and octopus!

Superb.......very hard to fault. Given that this jewel of an island sits in the Indian Ocean 5000 miles from home I was amazed to see a bottle of HP sauce available at breakfast. Food in the buffet resetraunt was excellent, lots of choice catering for all tastes. The cleanliness is outstanding, rooms, general areas and gardens are maintained throughout the day.
All in All, an excellent holiday for a reasonable price at an absolutely fabulous resort..

Excellent hotel, wonderful staff. They managed to keep variety in the food offered for the whole 2 weeks. We also had one dinner in the Water Villas restaurant (not included). This was truly excellent and well worth the extra charge.
9.3/10
Everywhere clean, good choice of food
10/10
This was our second visit to the Maldives but the first to this island. Our last visit was 13 years ago to an Island in the south arri atoll, so a return visit to he Indian
Ocean was long overdue. Adaaran Select was the better
resort and a good choice. The staff from the front office to the grounds staff were wonderful. Indeed we would like to thank them all that we met and made friends with for making our holiday that much enjoyable. I will be Emailing the resort to thank them in person for a wonderful holiday .
9.6/10
wonderful stay from the moment we stepped onto the sea plane transfer to back to the airport.
Met on the jetty, room was ready for us after a welcome lunch. Beautiful setting, welcoming friendly staff.

10/10
We would like to say a big thank you in your assistance with our holiday. Everything went as smoothly as possible. Everywhere within the island complex is kept clean and tidy.
10/10
Excellent organisation of holiday from start to finish. Having travelled with Mercury on a number of occasions in the past to Indian Ocean destinations. I would thoroughly recommend your services for a straightforward, value for money, vacation.
10/10
WE have been to Meedhupparu in 2013 and loved it then but it has been improved - if that were possible. Could not fault our holiday at all. It was our 50th wedding anniversary whilst there and they pulled out all the stops. A truly lovely holiday that went far too quickly.
9.6/10
Nothing to complain about
7.9/10
Nice hotel we have been to the Maldives before and were probably spoilt at the first one no real problem with the hotel but will go some where else next time
8.6/10
Nice quite place on small island. Hotel is far away from noisy Male, no international flights, no big ships around. Look like there is 500 of tourist there , but you not crossing frequently with each other, that's mean good spacing. Incredible friendly and helpful staff. Nice beaches. Very clear place, staff all the time is cleaning everything. Tasty food, good choose. However small choose of all inclusive drinks.
10/10
The new mattresses on the sunbeds were greatly appreciated as were the new sunbeds, although they did prove to be a bit heavy to move around.
9.6/10
Beach bungalow was perfectly situated and was a good size and air conditioned.
8.2/10
A friendly relaxed hotel
10/10
Returned for the 4th Time
10/10
This Island is Paradise. The hotel is clean. The staff cant do too much for you. All together perfect.
Two minor niggles are that all mixer drinks, coke/lemonade etc are always flat and secondly all purchases on the island are shown as plus plus. Ie plus service charge and plus tax. would be much simpler to state price you actually pay.
10/10
The staff at the hotel were superb and made our holiday one of the best we have had.
8.6/10
No problems with the resort at all
9.6/10
Wonderful staff with nothing asked of them too much. Cleaning was continuous, spotless!
